Police arrest Pakistani husband who cut off his wife’s tongue

According to police, the suspect had verbally divorced his wife a few days ago

Dubai: Police in Pakistan has arrested a husband who cut off the tongue of his wife after divorcing her.

The husband was on the run after he allegedly assaulted his wife and cut her tongue out on Friday in Pindi Bhattian tehsil of Hafizabad district.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accused, identified as Jehangir, allegedly cut off his wife’s tongue with a pair of scissors and subjected her to torture.

According to the victim's father, the reason for the incident was that the suspect had verbally divorced the victim a few days earlier. Not satisfied, the man now wanted to kill her, Dawn news reported the victim's father as saying.

According to the father's account in the FIR, the suspect continued to kick and punch the victim after maiming her. He added that the suspect had also used the scissors to disfigure her hands and face.
