Pakistan: COVID-19 recoveries exceed 555,000
NCOC data reveals 1,519 cases of COVID-19 were reported during last 24 hours
Islamabad: The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Thursday reported an increase in recovery rates of patients with COVID-19. The number of overall recoveries in the country has now reached 555,242.
According to the NCOC data, 64 patients succumbed to the virus in a single day. A day earlier the toll was 75. The total number of fatalities in the country reached 13,076.
The NCOC data also reveals that 1,519 cases of COVID-19 were reported during the last twenty-four hours taking overall infections to 585,435.
The NCOC and the health authorities, despite increase in number of deaths as well as cases have foreseen decline in COVID-19 cases in the coming days.
Under treatment
The number of patients in hospitals has also dropped to the level of November 2020 and currently there are less than 2,000 people are under treatment in the country.
Besides, the number of active cases, which was over 50,000 in December, has also fallen to 17,117 as of March 4.
Meanwhile, after seven players tested positive and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials’ announcement of postponing Season 6 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) fans took to social media to express their anguish and dismay.
Immediately after Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the PCB Waseem Khan made the announcement, #PSLPostponed and #JavedAfridi were among the top trends reflecting fans’ disappointment on the abrupt decision by the PCB.
