Haleem Adil Sheikh assumes charge as new Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly
Karachi: Haleem Adil Sheikh of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday assumed responsibility as the new Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly replacing Firdous Shamim Naqvi of the same party.
The application earlier submitted to the secretariat of Sindh Assembly to declare Sheikh as the new Leader of Opposition in the house contained signatures of total 59 Opposition legislators. These include 29 legislators of PTI, 19 of Muttahida Quami Movement, and 11 lawmakers of Grand Democratic Alliance.
Sheikh accompanied the previous opposition leader Naqvi as he went to the Sindh Assembly building to assume his new responsibilities.
Sheikh praised the services of Naqvi as the opposition leader in the assembly.
He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Imran Khan for nominating him as the new opposition leader in Sindh Assembly.
Sheikh said that as being the opposition leader he would become the voice of the suppressed farmers and businessmen of Sindh in all its cities and towns. He said he would become the voice of the entire province as people had been facing hardships in Sindh for the past 13 years.
