Raining again in Dubai, more showers in the UAE as dark clouds blanket Emirates
Dubai: Residents here woke up to pre-dawn rumble of thunder and flashes of lightning that brought early morning showers and strong winds to the city on Sunday.
More rain is predicted in the country today, January 12, 2020 in various parts of the UAE.
Saturday night bore a fair bit of unstable weather to the Emirates. On Sunday, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued an orange and red alert to warn residents of the risk of hazardous weather.
Storm-like conditions with rumbles of thunder and lightning have been reported early morning on Sunday on parts of Dubai and Sharjah, and this weather likely to continue during the day.
On Saturday, heavy rains — up to 150mm per hour for 2.5 hours in Dubai — brought life to a standstill, as roads were flooded.
Numerous outbound and inbound flights were also delayed due to road closures around the Dubai International airpot triggered by waterlogging.
On Sunday, seas are expected to be rough or very rough in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.
Temperatures could dip to 16 degrees celsius in the coastal areas and 8 degrees celsius in the mountainous regions, climbing to 19°C to 11°C respectively.
Current temperatures are between 12°C to 18°C across the emirates.
We advise residents to take precautions while driving as the rainfall in the last few days have resulted in slippery roads and water logging in some areas of the UAE.
And, as temperatures are expected to dip with more rain predicted, we advise residents to carry and umbrella and a jacket to avoid feeling too cold.
