UAE: Over 52 per cent of the population vaccinated

Dubai: The National Vaccination Campaign has achieved its goal of vaccinating 52,46 per cent of the country’s population, said Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Health, during a media briefing on Tuesday.

“We are approaching seven million doses of COVID-19 vaccine given through more than 205 medical centres across the country,” the minister said.

He said the availability of vaccines is one of the tremendous efforts made by the country in the fight against the pandemic whereas vaccines are free to everyone.

Al Owais stressed that the ultimate goal is to provide the vaccine to 100 per cent of the UAE’s population.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) advised everyone to avoid gatherings in Ramadan and refrain from family visits, as well as not to distribute and exchange of meals.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) stressed that all measures announced in the national protocol are subject to changes depending on the global and regional health status. The committee called on the public to seek information from official sources and to refrain from spreading rumours that may have negative repercussions on society, the country’s efforts and destabilizing the safety of the community.

It also highlighted the need for the elderly and for people with chronic conditions to avoid gatherings of any kind, as to ensure their safety.
