Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said the UAE needs a more lean, resilient and faster government that can responds to national priorities.

“The UAE, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is capable of facing crises and shaping the future, and continue to boost its development process and keep up with global changes and benefit from them, which strengthens the UAE’s position on the global stage,” he added.

Sheikh Mohammed said visions of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, represent a future approach to the UAE.

“We concluded the meetings of the UAE Cabinet to prepare the UAE’s post-coronavirus strategy … we will review the Cabinet structure…we may reshuffle the Cabinet, merge ministries, change entities and introduce changes…We need a more lean, resilient and faster government that can keep pace with the new and different national priorities,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.

Sheikh Mohammed called for a government structure to have a more agile, flexible and speedy Cabinet that can respond affectively to national priorities in the post-COVID-19 era.

Sheikh Mohammed was speaking on the closing the virtual meeting of the UAE Cabinet on Wednesday.

The meeting focused on six main areas spanning health, education, economy, food security, society and government.

“We concluded the virtual meetings of the UAE Cabinet to prepare the UAE’s post-coronavirus strategy … we will review the Cabinet structure…we may merge ministries, change entities and introduce new changes…We need a more agile, resilient and faster government that can cope with the new and different national priorities,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.

“Anyone who thinks the post-COVID-19 world will be the same as the one before it is mistaken,” he added.

The meetings brought together ministers, secretaries general of executive councils and officials from more than 100 federal and local authorities to shape the post-coronavirus future and develop a national strategy.

Sheikh Mohammed said the post-COVID-19 phase will leave its impacts on the work methods, forms of life and human activity.

The Vice President underlined that the UAE is able to emerge stronger and recover swiftly from the virus pandemic, with the efforts and dedication of its citizens.

“Flexibility, readiness and ability to adapt and adopt changes are keys to successful government, “Sheikh Mohammed said.

Sheikh Mohammed has instructed the UAE team to intensify efforts and work in all fields to elevate the UAE’s readiness and strengthen its ability to deal with any future emergency.

“This stage requires rescheduling national priorities to adapt to variables more quickly. The UAE government faced the coronavirus challenge with a high level of efficiency. The challenge now is to face the consequences of this epidemic, which has burdened the world,” he added.

He praised the efforts of national cadres who have been on the frontline of the battle against the virus.

The meeting also hosted a number of international experts who reviewed the future trends of the global economy in the post-coronavirus era and the need to strengthen international cooperation and lead scientific research.

The UAE has many opportunities to lead global efforts in development of anti-coronavirus vaccines, form a new strategic global alliance in the field of healthcare, and strengthen the UAE's position among the most important global economic hubs.
