Ajman: A massive fire broke out in the Ajman Industrial Area in the early hours of Friday, causing extensive damage to a lubricant oil factory, a residential building, a printing press, warehouses, and dozens of vehicles, Ajman police reported.

The incident was reported at around 3:15 am, and the civil defense teams were immediately dispatched to the site. According to the police, the fire has been brought under control, thanks to the swift response of the civil defense teams, who were assisted by support units from Sharjah, Dubai, and Umm Al Quwain.

The Ajman Police also provided support to the firefighting operations, with the presence and direct supervision of Major General Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police, Brigadier General Abdullah Saif Al Matrooshi, Director General of Police Operations of Ajman Police, and Colonel Raed Obaid Al Zaabi, Director General of Ajman Civil Defence.

Cause yet unknown

The cause of the fire is not yet known, and an investigation is underway. Five people were injured in the incident — four of whom suffered moderate injuries, while another only sustained minor injuries.

However, the financial losses are expected to be significant due to the extensive damage caused by the fire.

The fire resulted in the entire grease factory going up in flames, along with a next-door printing press, a ready-to-wear clothes warehouse, nine commercial stores, and a two-storey residential building.

In addition, 39 vehicles parked next to the factory were completely gutted.

Fire erupted at 3.15 am

Major General Al Nuaimi said the police central operations room received a report about the industrial area fire at 3.15 am.

Immediately, police patrols and civil defence teams moved from three centers to the incident site within 7 minutes.

Support was also requested from the centres of the neighbouring emirates of Dubai, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain and Ajman Police to secure the site.

In addition, ambulances were dispatched by the Federal Electricity and Water Authority, the Municipality and Planning Department, and the Red Crescent to the site.

Major General Al Nuaimi said that the competent teams immediately began evacuation and firefighting operations, and a plan to contain the fire and protect neighbouring locations was activated.

Colonel Raed Obaid Al Zaabi, Director General of Civil Defence, said that the civil defence teams were able to put out the fire and started cooling operations at the site.

All five injured were taken to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital for further treatment.
