16 apartments, 13 vehicles damaged in Ajman residential building fire

All the residents were evacuated safely and the blaze brought under control immediately

Ajman: A fire engulfed a 15-storey residential building located in Al Nuaimiya area (3) on Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street earlier on Friday.

Soon after being reported, the fire was brought under control and all residents were safely evacuated without any injuries, thanks to the rapid intervention of the Ajman Police and Civil Defence teams.

Upon receiving the alert, police patrols promptly arrived on the scene and cordoned off the affected area. Collaborating closely with the Civil Defence, they executed a swift evacuation, ensuring the safety of the building's residents.

16 apartments were gutted and 13 vehicles sustained damages. Post-incident, investigative teams are trying to determine the exact cause of the fire.

Brigadier Abdullah Saif Al Matrooshi, Director General of Police Operations, urged building owners and residents to strictly adhere to safety protocols, especially in residential settings, to avert such incidents.

Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Eilan Issa Al Shamsi, Director, Ajman Civil Defence, said teams from Al Rashidiya Center led the firefighting efforts, supplemented by units from Sharjah Civil Defence and Umm Al Quwain. He highlighted that the damage was confined to material losses. Once the flames were extinguished, cooling operations commenced, and the building's control was transferred to the police to proceed with further investigations.
