Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority recorded 1,405 contraband seizures across land, sea and airport customs within one week, the authority said in a statement.
The confiscated items included 37 types of narcotics such as hashish, cocaine, heroin and Captagon pills, along with 901 prohibited substances.
During the same period, customs officials foiled 2,318 attempts to smuggle tobacco and its derivatives, in addition to seizing 23 types of currency and eight types of weapons and related accessories.
The authority reiterated its commitment to tightening customs controls on imports and exports to enhance security and prevent smuggling, working in close coordination with relevant agencies. It also urged the public to support anti-smuggling efforts to protect society and the national economy.
