Riyadh: Saudi Arabia on Wednesday beheaded a citizen convicted of fatally shooting another Saudi man, the Interior Ministry said.

Muslit Bin Sultan was executed for killing Dhaar Bin Hamoud with a single bullet shot following a dispute, said a ministry statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency.

The convict was beheaded in the western Taif resort near the holy city of Mecca.

Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islam under which people convicted of murder, drug trafficking, rape and armed robbery can be executed, usually with a sword.
