Fahd, Pakistani PM discuss fight against terror, Palestine and Iraq

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, Tuesday held talks with the visiting Pakistani Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, on bilateral relations and regional and international issues.

According to Abdulaziz Mirza, the Pakistani ambassador to the Kingdom, the two sides had wide-ranging discussions on ways and means of fighting terrorism. The king and Jamali also discussed latest developments on the international and Islamic arena and in particular the situation in Palestine and Iraq as well as ways and means for widening areas of cooperation between the two countries.

Jamali re-iterated his country's keen interest in further strengthening friendly ties between the two countries.

Ambassador Mirza told Gulf News that "The prime minister's talks with Saudi officials covered the efforts exerted by Riyadh and Islam Abad in the fight against terror." He said the prime minister also held talks with Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, minister of the interior.

Meanwhile the government of the United States has renewed its support for the efforts being exerted by the Kingdom in her fight against terrorist activities.

The US support for the Kingdom's fight against terror was conveyed to Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, by two visiting US officials during their meeting with him in Jeddah Tuesday.

The officials, US President's Deputy Assistant for Internal Security Affairs and Deputy National Security Advisor for Combating Terrorism, expressed the US government's support for all the steps taken by the Kingdom in tracking down terrorists and in uncovering their aggressive schemes.
