Cairo: Foreign lawyers will no longer be allowed to appear before different courts in Oman as of early next year, the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs has said.
In November 2016, the Omani government set December 31, 2020 as the dateline for non-Omani lawyers registered with local law firms to attend or plead at courts of various degrees in the country.
The ministry urged law firms and authorities concerned to abide by the dateline and take the necessary measures to enforce related stipulations, Omani online newspaper Shabiba reported Tuesday.
The ministry expressed in a statement its appreciation for non-Omani lawyers’ contributions to “raise level of the legal profession” in the Sultanate.
