Cairo: Oman Tuesday confirmed 1,010 new cases of the novel coronavirus, raising to 40,070 the country's overall infections.

The latest report, carried by the Omani news agency ONA, shows an increase of 100 cases compared to Monday when 910 infections were recorded in the sultanate.

The newly diagnosed cases include 776 Omanis and 234 foreign residents, the Health Ministry said.

Seven more deaths from COVID-19 were reported, taking Oman's total such fatalities to 176.

The country's overall recoveries from the disease have reached 23,425, according to the ministry.
