Manama: A group of young Kuwaitis has launched a campaign to boycott a local telecommunications company to protest against its "high fees" and "deteriorated services" compared with those offered in the neighbouring countries, Asia and Europe.

The campaign is gaining impetus amid hopes that around 10,000 people will join it, organisers said.

Various social networks are being used to promote the drive and around 900 people have already endorsed it, they said.

As a first move, the boycott will be for one hour on Saturday when the young people will shut down their mobile phones at 3pm.

Phones will be subsequently shut down for one hour per day until the company reduced its fees and improved its services, they said on Tuesday, according to Al Aan news portal.
