Manama: Kuwait has recorded 720 conversions to Islam in the first 25 days of Ramadan, the Islam Presentation Committee (IPC) has said.

"The 720 people who have declared their conversion to Islam are from various nationalities," the committee said in a statement published in Kuwait. "Such a number means that we would like people to support the committee and help it in offering care for the new converts."

The committee will work with the new Muslims to explain teachings and highlights values promoted by their religion, the committee said.

"We will use our 80 specialists to deepen their knowledge about Islam and to learn Arabic. We are now entrusted with educating them, and we shall do that," said the committee launched in 1978 to "spread awareness about Islam among communities."

Ramadan in Kuwait started on August 11.
