Kuwait hospitals to treat 20 wounded Iraqis

Manama: Kuwait's health authorities will on Tuesday start treating 20 wounded Iraqis in Kuwaiti hospitals, the health minister has said.

"Our hospitals are ready to look after the wounded Iraqis, in line with the directions of the Emir," Dr Helal Al Sayer said.

On December 9, Kuwait's Emir, Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, instructed that Iraqis wounded in recent Baghdad terrorist attacks be transferred and treated in Kuwait.

All medical facilities and healthcare will be provided to the wounded until they are fully recovered, Roudhan Al Roudhan, minister of state for cabinet affairs, said.

Five hospitals in Kuwait are already providing treatment to 20 Yemenis wounded in the clashes between government forces and Al Houthi rebels.

The Yemenis have been in Kuwait since December 12 and are being treated also upon instructions from the Emir to provide the highest levels of assistance and healthcare.
