Kuwait calls on Pakistan to ‘bolster democracy’

Kuwait City: The government of Kuwait has called on Pakistan to “continue bolstering its democratic institutions with the support of civil society and the media”.

The statement was made at the United Nations Human Rights Council’s review of Pakistan’s human rights situation, as reported by the Kuwait News Agency. Kuwait’s permanent representative to the body, Malek Hussain Al Wazzan, stressed Pakistan’s need to “continue its efforts against social inequality and poverty” to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, adding that Kuwait had always been concerned about Pakistan’s annual report on the issue.
