Islamic appeal court formed in Pakistan as part of peace deal

Islamabad: Pakistan has announced the creation of an Islamic appeal court in a section of the northwest as part of a peace deal between security forces and Taliban.

Mian Iftikhar Hussain, the northwest province's information minister, said that with the formation of the Darul Qaza court, the government was nearing completion of its side of the deal.

The announcement came as Pakistani forces repelled a mass assault on an outpost in a tribal region, a clash that left 18 people dead.

Under the controversial peace deal, the government agreed to impose Islamic law in Swat and nearby areas to stop two years of bloody fighting.
