Coronavirus: Pakistan reporter accidentally interacts with a COViD-19 patient without a mask, video goes viral

Dubai: Twitter users in Pakistan are feeling sorry for a journalist who was reporting on the petrol crisis in Peshawar, after a video of him went viral. Not wearing a mask, he gave a piece to camera, before turning to interview someone on the road. People were left shocked when the interviewee, who was also not wearing a mask, replied that he was on the way to a hospital because he had tested positive for coronavirus. While many said it was a scary thing, some found the situation somewhat funny.

The video was shared on Twitter by another Pakistani journalist and documentary filmmaker, Anas Mallick, who identified the reporter in the video as Adnan Tariq. He wrote: “Genuinely feel sorry for the ARY Reporter, Adnan Tariq. For better understanding, watch the video till the end. #covid19 #Pakistan”

In the video, Tariq, who was standing at a petrol pump, looked at the camera, and told his viewers: "Petrol is unavailable at most petrol stations in Peshawar. Wherever it is available, there are long queues of vehicle owners.”

He then turns to interview a man, without a facemask, at the petrol station.

As the reporter holds the mic close to the man, he says that petrol is not available in any of the petrol stations in Peshawar. He then goes on to add that he is coronavirus positive, and was on his way to the hospital.

A complete video was later shared by the journalist, and it shows Tariq stepping away from the man, but continuing to report without looking fazed.

While many users felt sorry for the reporter, some commented that he put his health at risk by not wearing a mask.
