2,000 women rally for enforcement of Sharia

Islamabad: Shouting slogans in favour of jihad, about 2,000 women from hardline Islamic parties rallied in the capital yesterday in support of the radical former leaders of Islamabad's Red Mosque.

Demonstrators gathered outside the sprawling Faisal Mosque also urged the government to enforce Islamic laws in the country.

"The blood for the martyrs of Red Mosque and Jamia Hafsa will not go waste!" they shouted.

Qazi Hussain Ahmad, the chief of Pakistan's main Jamaat-e-Islami party, told the crowd his group would build new seminaries to replace the one at the Red Mosque, which was torn down by authorities last week.
