A 29-year-old air hostess was found dead inside her Mumbai flat on Thursday, amid India’s nationwide lockdown. Indian Twitter users shared news reports about the deceased, Sultana Shaikh, who used to work with Go Air airlines.

Shaikh’s body was found in a decomposed state inside her flat at Poddar Wadi locality in the western suburb of Vila Parle, according to the police.

According to a PTI report, her neighbours in the Rajalaxmi building, noticed “a stench emanating from her apartment” and alerted the police late on Wednesday night.

Shaikh who worked with Go Air used to live there with two of her colleagues, who had left the city before the COVID-19 lockdown was enforced, the police confirmed.

Tweeps who shared the report, took to the micro-blogging site to say it was a “saddening” incident and that it was important to check on friends and family who stay alone.

Twitter user @2Mayankgupta shared a news report about the incident and tweeted: “These are the side effects of the Lockdown. God Bless us.”

While some wondered whether it was a suicide, the police have confirmed that no suicide note was found in the apartment

Police also added that a case of accidental death was registered and further investigations were underway.
