Find out what he plans to do with UAE Lottery jackpot he hit after 5 months of trying
Dubai: A UAE national has struck it lucky with a Dh100,000 win from the UAE Lottery and revealed his unconventional approach to picking numbers.
Abdalla Ali Gharib told Gulf News that he has been participating in the UAE Lottery for around five months.
“I play twice a week, playing with Dh50 or Dh100,” he said.
He revealed that his lucky draw came after buying three tickets, each selected using a different method.
“One was a quick pick with random numbers. Another, I had numbers chosen to represent my family, and for the third, I picked numbers based on the first thing I saw when I opened my phone—the date and time,” he explained.
Though Abdalla did not confirm which of the three tickets led to the win, his unique combination of methods, including the use of his phone lock screen, adds a quirky twist to his story.
He said he checked the draw results online and was stunned. “The first thing I saw was the word ‘Congratulations!’ I was so happy…I could hardly believe it.”
“I didn’t expect to see Dh100,000. I checked the numbers again, and it was true. All of them matched except for one,” he said.
The first person he revealed it to? His best friend. “He was genuinely happy for me and said I deserved it.”
Abdalla says he plans to use the prize money to upgrade his car. “. I’ll sell my current one and get a better model,” he said.
As for the lottery itself, Abdalla believes it is more than just a game of chance.
“I think The UAE Lottery is a great initiative as the first licensed lottery in the region. It gives people a chance to register, play, and maybe win. Of course, I’ll keep playing and hope that next time all my numbers match,” he said, hoping to win the UAE Lottery’s grand prize Dh100million.
His message to others: “Everyone should try their luck; you never know when you might get lucky. I wish everyone the best of luck and hope they win as well.”
