Dubai: Heavy rains impacted parts of Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah on Thursday morning, according to the latest weather update. Hail has been reported in Ras Al Khaimah. The UAE Met Office explained that a low-pressure system moving inland from the Arabian Sea is causing this weather, which is expected to continue until tonight.
Moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms struck Ras Al Khaimah early Thursday morning. Residents woke up to strong winds, thunder, and lightning.
Instagram account @storm_ae, which posts weather updates from the UAE also shared videos of lightning and rain in Ras Al Khaimah.
Scattered rainfall was recorded in various parts of Ras Al Khaimah on Thursday morning, including Al Digdaga and Al Hamraniah.
Light rain was reported first over the Emirates Road towards Umm Al Quwain and Al Jazeera and Al Hamra around 6.20 am today.
The Ras Al Khaimah Police has asked residents to follow safety measures during rainy conditions.
According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the weather today is expected to be partly cloudy with clouds developing at times, accompanied by rainfall in some coastal, northern, and eastern areas. There will be a gradual decrease in temperatures.
The weather bureau noted that this will lead to "different cloud formations over scattered areas of the country."
As per the NCM update, the amount of cloud cover will increase over various regions, with some convective clouds bringing rainfall of varying intensities at intervals. Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds may become strong in areas with developing clouds, potentially causing blowing dust and sand that could reduce horizontal visibility.
Sea conditions will be slight to moderate but may become rough at times in the Arabian Gulf, while conditions in the Oman Sea will remain slight to moderate.
