Dubai drivers who regularly crawl through the Al Wasl–Umm Al Sheif intersection may soon get a bit of breathing room. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed it is adding out a second eastbound lane at the busy junction, part of what it calls an ongoing effort to keep traffic moving in fast-growing neighbourhoods.

In recent months, authorities have quietly widened several arterial routes and adjusted signal timings in similar hot spots.
The expansion is part of RTA’s broader strategy to support Dubai’s rapid urban growth and economic expansion by improving road safety, traffic flow, and connectivity between residential neighborhoods, schools, and new developments.
