Dubai: Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has alerted residents about a fraudulent online offer claiming to provide 50% off traffic fines and discounted RTA services.
The scam, circulating via emails and social media, promises “half off RTA services when you pay online today.” The RTA confirmed that the page and offer do not belong to the authority.
A Dubai resident shared an image on the Dubai RTA X (formerly Twitter) account, showing an offer that promised half-price access to RTA services upon payment.
The RTA clarified that the page is not affiliated with the authority and warned that such campaigns are deceptive schemes aimed at misleading digital service users.
Residents are advised to avoid clicking on links or making payments from unofficial sources and to use only official RTA channels—including the website, ticket offices, and vending machines—to pay fines or access services.
In parallel, the UAE Cybersecurity Council and Ministry of Interior have warned about a surge in online scams, including fake traffic fines, travel tickets, and trading platforms. Authorities advise residents to:
Use only official airline or trading websites
Verify URLs and sender identities
Be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true
Avoid paying via untrusted methods or links
Report suspected fraud immediately
Officials highlighted that scammers are increasingly using digital tools, including AI, to deceive victims. They stressed the importance of protecting personal and banking information and verifying all messages before engaging.
