Dh57,220 of air tickets for 35 inmates who finished their sentences and wanted to be home

Dubai: The General Department of Correctional and Punitive Establishments at Dubai Police has paid off outstanding blood money and resolved commercial disputes for 17 inmates after charitable associations and philanthropists donated Dh953,965 during this Ramadan.
The department also provided air tickets worth Dh57,220 to 35 indebted inmates who had finished serving their sentences and wished to return to their home countries and be with their families during Ramadan.
Major General Ali Mohammed Al Shamali, Director of the General Department of Correctional and Punitive Establishments at Dubai Police, confirmed that Dubai Police, under the directives of Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, are always keen on strengthening partnerships with charitable and humanitarian institutions in the country and granting inmates a second chance to reform and start anew by providing them with necessary support, in collaboration with the authorities concerned and generous individuals.
