Sharjah: Sharjah Police have warned motorists against making sudden lane changes or sharp turns after missing an exit, urging drivers to continue on their route and take the next available exit rather than risk causing a crash.

“Missed your exit? Don’t risk a sudden swerve. Take the next exit and stay in your lane, for your safety and the safety of others,” the force said in a road-safety message.

Police also shared a video illustrating the dangers of abrupt manoeuvres. In the clip, a motorist who appears to realise he has missed an exit suddenly veers towards it, only to strike a kerb he had not seen, causing the vehicle to crash.

Under UAE traffic regulations, sudden swerving carries a fine of Dh1,000 and four black points on the driver’s licence.

The warning is part of continuing efforts to discourage unpredictable driving behaviour that can endanger motorists and other road users.
