No need to compare
I think the views expressed by two correspondents in Gulf News are nonsense. One cannot make the generalisation that females are more dominating than men just because women rule a handful of countries or that some women in the past were powerful. If the correspondents think administration is the criterion for domination, then it is men who hold 90 per cent of similar positions. In my opinion, the comparison of male or female domination is in itself absurd.

Controversy
Amnesty International, like several other so-called 'world' bodies such as the United Nations, has published a list of the countries that are less concerned about human lives than others. May I ask, what has given the organisation the right to honour some countries while ignoring others? The facts and figures put out by the agency in a dramatic and sensational way may not necessarily be real or true.

A suggestion
Since the director of Channel 33 was interested in knowing the opinion of the public on the television channel's programmes, I would like to voice mine. The television programmes are quite entertaining. We foreigners should be grateful to the Dubai authorities for providing an English entertainment channel. I feel Channel 33 could be made a little more enjoyable with the introduction of a few more comedy shows such as "Maude", "Charles in Charge, Give Me a Break", and so on.

High standards
This is in reference to the views expressed by Alistair Syme on taxi drivers and the most appropriate reply by Mohammad Huque. I went through a personal experience recently and would like to share it with Gulf News readers. On January 12, I lost my purse, which had my labour card and some money, while commuting to work. Zaheer Khan, the Pakistani taxi driver, later found my purse when he was cleaning his car. He immediately checked the address on my labour card and informed me when I was at work. He requested me to meet him after one hour at the Al Ghurair Centre taxi area. When I was given my purse I thanked him for an honourable deed. From my experience Syme should know that Pakistani taxi drivers are setting some new standards in honesty.

One stop
Goans in the UAE will read with great disappointment that Air India did not include Dubai or Abu Dhabi when they introduced a direct flight from Kuwait to Goa en route to Trivandrum. For more than five years Goan expatriates in Kuwait and UAE have been asking for direct flights to Goa so that they could return home without disembarking in Mumbai. I hope Kuwait Airways management would consider this very reasonable request by Goans.
