Ajman Police have joined the global community in observing the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, held annually on November 17. The day honors those who have lost their lives in traffic accidents and shows solidarity with their families, while promoting safer driving practices across the emirate.

Colonel Rashid Humaid Bin Hindi, Deputy Director of Ajman’s Directorate of Traffic and Patrols, said the day highlights the social, psychological, and economic impact of road accidents. “Many accidents can be prevented through adherence to traffic laws, awareness, and responsible driving,” he added.

He stressed that the observance is a yearly reminder that road safety is everyone’s responsibility. “Every preventable accident is an opportunity to save a life and spare a family from pain and loss,” Colonel Bin Hindi said.

Ajman Police run year-round awareness campaigns and traffic control initiatives to boost road safety. Measures include intensified speed monitoring, tackling distracted driving, promoting seatbelt use, and ensuring pedestrian right-of-way. He called on residents to cooperate with police and follow traffic rules, noting that safe driving reflects core social and human values and contributes to a safer road environment.

Colonel Bin Hindi also reaffirmed Ajman Police’s commitment to supporting the Ministry of Interior’s vision for safer roads and the UAE’s national targets to reduce traffic fatalities, while praising the positive role of community cooperation in enhancing road safety.
