Patriots pump up the volume for Super Bowl

Indianapolis: The New England Patriots practised to the sound of loud rock and pop music on Wednesday in an attempt to simulate the level of noise they will face in Sunday's Super Bowl against the New York Giants.

Lucas Oil Stadium is an indoor venue with the roof trapping noise inside and making it tough for players to communicate verbally on the field.

"We can make it loud enough so that [the players] can't hear," said Belichick, whose team has not played inside a dome this season.

"As long as they can't hear, you have to do silent communications whether it's on defence with hand signals or offence with tapping the centre [for the snap] and all that," he said.

Belichick took on some D.J. duties, helping select the songs and among those played were tracks from Jon Bon Jovi, a personal friend of the coach who attended New England's second-round playoff win over Denver.

There were also tunes from Super Bowl half-time performer Madonna.

Belichick said he and Patriots Director of Football Berj Najarian chose the songs but added with a smile, "I get veto power."
