Advance preparation is particularly important for children starting school for first time
Dubai: Dubai Police have urged parents to begin preparing children psychologically for the return to school and to gradually reset their sleep schedules before the new academic year begins.
The Child and Women Protection Department at the General Department of Human Rights said early preparation could help children make a smoother transition back into the classroom, strengthen their confidence and give them a greater sense of security and reassurance.

The department said advance preparation was particularly important for children starting school for the first time or moving into a new stage of education, when anxiety about unfamiliar routines and surroundings may be more pronounced.
Positive conversations at home can help reduce those concerns, it said, with parents encouraged to explain what children can expect from the school day and to present the return to class in a calm and reassuring way.
Parents were also advised to begin adjusting bedtimes and wake-up times gradually before classes resume, bringing them closer to the school-day routine rather than making an abrupt change on the first day.
Creating a quiet environment for sleep and ensuring children get sufficient rest were also highlighted as important steps in helping them start the term feeling prepared.
The department added that listening to children’s concerns, offering encouragement and reinforcing their confidence in their ability to cope with the school day could help them begin the new academic year with a more positive outlook.
