1. Pop the chocolate powder and 80 per cent of the milk needed into the steaming jug.

2. Stir gently for a couple of seconds until the chocolate blends in well.

3. Place the remaining milk in a mug and heat it in the microwave for about five minutes then add the hot chocolate, stir until it completely dissolves, or cool the milk in a pot then add the chocolate and stir.

4. You should have a jug of smooth, shiny, dark hot chocolate with no 'bits' of chocolate.

5. If serving to a child - you might prefer to add more chilled milk at the end.

6. Pour into your coffee cup and sprinkle with some chocolate shavings to decorate.
