Dubai: Abu Dhabi National Chemicals Company (ChemaWEyaat) yesterday said it has awarded to Halcrow Group Ltd. (UK) the master plan consultancy services contract for the Madeenat ChemaWEyaat Al Gharbia (MCAG) chemicals industrial city, which will be located in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi (Al Gharbia).
Halcrow will develop the master plan for the MCAG site, which encompasses 70 square kilometres of land allocated to ChemaWEyaat by the government of Abu Dhabi in addition to the ChemaWEyaat site in the Khalifa Industrial Zone in Al Taweelah Abu Dhabi. Madeenat ChemaWEyaat Al Gharbia is adjacent to the Adnoc-Ruwais Industrial Complex, home to the Borouge Polymers complex, Gasco, and Takreer refinery, among others.
Infrastructure planning
"Additionally, the master plan will focus on detailed infrastructure planning for all future ChemaWEyaat chemical complexes being part of Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, starting with ChemaWEyaat's first project ‘Tacaamol Phase 1, which consists of the design and construction of the world's largest reformer to date with a capacity of about 70,000 barrels per day reformer and an integrated BTX unit that will primarily produce benzene, toluene, paraxylene, orthoxylene and metaxylene, as well as light naphtha and LPG for export," a statement said. With the completion of the first defined milestone in the Master Plan schedule, FEED work for Tacaamol Phase 1 will commence.
Feedstock for Madeenat ChemaWEyaat will be provided by Adnoc.
