Awards for customer care service presented

Dubai: An evaluation organisation on Tuesday honoured top businesses and government agencies that excelled in customer care last year.

The Middle East Excellence Awards Institute, which evaluates customer care quality in the region, announced the recipients of the second Middle East Customer Care Excellence Awards at a ceremony at the Burj Al Arab hotel on Tuesday.

"We established these awards to bestow recognition on organisations that are among the best in the region when it comes to offering innovative customer care and services.

"This year's nomination process was extremely rigorous due to the large number of high-quality nominations submitted," said Ali Al Kamali, chairman of the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute.

A statement from the institute named Dubai Municipality as the winner in the government category for its "quality customer care culture."

The award in the manufacturing category went to Sabic, while Abdul Latif Jameel Group and the First Class of Qatar Airways won the award in the automobile and airline categories respectively.

In the banking and fin-ance sector, First Gulf Bank went home with the award for offering the best banking and finance customer care service.

Julphar swept away the competition in the healthcare category, while Al Tayer Group was the winner in the retail sector.

Among the hotels, Bab Al Shams Resort and the Burj Al Arab stood out.

Among the public transport firms in the Middle East, the Dubai Government's Roads and Transport Authority won for its "painstaking efforts and hard work that go behind a successful public transport operation".

In the property developer category, Sorouh was the winner, and Nakheel was recognised for delivering excellent after-sales customer care.

Dubai's Real Estate Regulatory Authority won the award for online customer care, and Reem Emirates Aluminium blew away its competitors in the construction category.

In the technology front, Taqa won the award for its IT-based customer care service.

etisalat won the telecom category.
