Dubai Metro Blue Line: Check out the route map, know the stations, and two distinct routes

The 30km route will link key areas with 14 stations and reduce traffic



New dates have been announced for the Metro Blue Line, which is expected to have nine elevated stations and five underground stations, connecting key neighbourhoods in Dubai. The authorities released a number of images to give an idea of how these stations will look.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that the eagerly awaited Dubai Metro Blue Line will officially commence operations on September 9, 2029.

Stretching across 30 kilometres and featuring 14 strategically located stations, the Blue Line aims to enhance connectivity across the emirate, linking major hubs like Dubai International Airport, Academic City, and Dubai Silicon Oasis.

When does construction start?

Construction of the Blue Line will begin in April 2025 and proceed in phases. Approved in November 2023, the project is part of Dubai’s vision to expand its world-class public transport system and reduce reliance on private vehicles.

The route and stations

The Blue Line is set to be the third metro line in Dubai, joining the existing Red and Green lines. Once operational, it will directly connect Dubai International Airport with nine key areas:

1. Mirdif
2. Al Warqa
3. International City 1
4. International City 2
5. Dubai Silicon Oasis
6. Academic City
7. Ras Al Khor Industrial Area
8. Dubai Creek Harbour
9. Dubai Festival City

Upon completion, the total number of Metro and tram stations across the city will rise from 64 to 78. Travel time along the Blue Line will range between 10 and 25 minutes, ensuring efficient and quick journeys for commuters.

Two distinct routes

The Blue Line will be divided into two main routes:

Route 1:

Starting point: Creek Interchange Station (Green Line), Al Jaddaf
Key stops: Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek Harbour, Ras Al Khor, International City 1 (interchange station), International City 2, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and Academic City.
Total distance: 21km
Number of stations: 10

Route 2:

Starting point: Centrepoint Interchange Station (Red Line), Al Rashidiya
Key stops: Mirdif, Al Warqa, and International City 1 (interchange station).
Total distance: 9km
Number of stations: Four
