AD Ports Group and India's Adani group to develop port, rail and industrial zone in Tanzania

Abu Dhabi-owned operator takes its overseas interests to Africa

Dubai: The AD Ports Group will jointly develop an port, rail and maritime services and an industrial zone in alliance with India’s Adani Ports and SEZ ltd., part of the Gautam Adani conglomerate.

“Our strategic investment in Tanzania in infrastructure and solutions will enable international companies to enter African markets,” said Capt. Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO, AD Ports Group. “In line with the direction of the UAE’s leadership, we are positioning Abu Dhabi as a global leader in logistics and industry.”

According to Karan Adani, CEO of the Indian entity, “We are pleased to be partnering with AD Ports Group in the development of key quality infrastructure in Tanzania especially in the ports and maritime sector, which will improve and bring about positive change in the lives of communities. We continue to support local employment, as well as general economic growth in Tanzania and East African countries that will benefit from our investments through the collaboration with AD Ports Group."

The Adani Group has in recent months been expanding its interests in the UAE, and aligning with AD Ports Group should be seen as an extension of that.
