Blue collar skills can pay well, but that’s a cynical platform to run on for school board. Instead of discouraging kids from higher ed, push for practical classes like personal finance? Accountants and lawyers will always be in demand. Don’t discourage higher ed altogether.

@ngetichpascal:

Unfortunately, our schools impart little practical knowledge, skills, or creativity that can make our youth self-employed. Our system is designed to produce white-collar employees for jobs which are not there.

It is my belief that the education system needs to adapt and change. There are more opportunities than ever before, especially in technology. Tests should be adapted to offer, or include practical testing. As many job interviews are a practical test proving your knowledge.
