Cairo: A person who failed to observe preventive measures against the new coronavirus has transmitted the highly contagious ailment to 10 others at their workplace in Saudi Arabia, the online newspaper Ajel reported Friday.

The transmitter did not wear the protective face mask and ignored keeping enough distancing in place, causing contagion to hit 10 work colleagues, the report said, citing a public awareness platform of the Health Ministry.

Health authorities are currently examining those who came into contact with those already infected, it added without specifying the area of work.

In recent weeks, Saudi Arabia has stepped up efforts to contain the spread of the virus and repeatedly urged the people to abide by preventive measures including the mandatory wearing of the mask and observe social distancing.

The kingdom so far has recorded 116,021 coronavirus cases including 857 and a total of 80,019 recoveries from COVID-19.
