Patna: The Bihar Police are investigating a case after three baby goats died of starvation, after their mother was captured room.

The incident took place at Abhaypur village in eastern Bihar’s Purnia district.

Police said a villager captured the mother goat and tied it up in his room, after it strayed into his paddy field on Wednesday. He refused to release the goat despite its owner’s repeated requests, as a result of which its three kids starved to death.

“My goat had given birth to three babies barely a day ago. When I came to know that my neighbour had captured the goat, I requested him to release it at least for some time, so that it could feed the babies but he refused. Now all three baby goats have died,” Janardan Bosak said in his written complaint to the police.

“We have received the complaint and are investigating,” a local police officer Manutish Kumar told the media on Friday.

The incident comes close on the heels of another such incident reported from the same district in August this year, when a man registered a complaint with the police, seeking the arrest of an ox after it chased and dashed him to the ground; the man was hospitalised after the incident.

Before that, a dog was produced in a local court in Purnia district, after the local police held it guilty of “breach of peace” and suggested action against the pet. It happened Purnia town’s residents complained to the local police that the dog was disturbing their peace by furiously barking at passers-by and also biting some of them.

During the investigation, the police found the charges to be true and submitted its report to local Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s court, which issued a summons to the dog’s owner Rajkumari Devi, to appear in the court with her pet.
