Ground Staff celebration event in Al Ain, huge success

Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club hosted their first ever Ground Staff Appreciation event where 12 teams of four competed in the extremely fun format of a 4 Player Texas Scramble.

The scoring was exceptionally good as the team of Alex Field, Amir Al Barki, Tom Truelove and Nicola De Beer took top spot with a superb Net 51.6. Three of the four players had taken a step up to the Championship course within the last 18 months from the Academy Series. The team added a Gross 30 back nine to their 32 front nine for an -8, Gross 62.

Second place went to the team of Thabo Moate, Johan Potgieter, Carel Nolte and Johan Schoonraad as they produced two nines of 31 for a Gross 62 and a Net 56.7.

In the Special Events, Rob Rudling took the Nearest the Pin prize on Hole 3, Nic Poisat hit it closest on Hole 8, Richie Kelly took the prize for Hole 13. On Hole 15, Tom Truelove took the prize on offer and Alex Field won the last prize on offer on Hole 17.

A big thanks also went towards three departing members, Richie Kelly who leaves after 9 years as a member of AESGC, Ryan Westby departs after 4 years service as Chang Heon Lee also leaves after 4 years. The club wishes all three gentlemen the best for the future and hopes to see them back again at the club one day for a game.
