Dubai: Christina Kim has dubbed the Dubai Ladies Masters a "first-class" tournament and one that measures up to a Major where the pampering meted out to participating golfers is concerned.
This is Kim's first visit to Dubai and the 25 year old is part of a group of American players who will be vying for success during their maiden outing at the event, which starts tomorrow at the Emirates Golf Club.
The two-time LPGA winner hasn't won a tournament in years and whether she wins or not in Dubai come Sunday, the city will always hold a special place in her heart.
"This is my first trip here. I was very fortunate to receive one of the invitations to play the tournament and it truly is like living a dream here. It's so beautiful, the golf course is perfect. It has always been one of my dreams to play in Dubai and to be here with many of my friends — it's absolutely fabulous," said Kim, whose last taste of success was at The Mitchell Company Tournament of Champions in 2005.
Kim says playing in Dubai is like a dream come true because she wants to experience first hand the course and city that deeply fascinated many of her colleagues on tour.
Fantastic tournament
"I've heard it's a fantastic tournament, the golf course is great, they treat us very, very well and everyone kept talking about how good the tournament really is and it's so much more than I even dreamed it could be. This could be a Major championship on our schedule if you compare it to some of the other LPGA tournaments that we have because everybody treats us so well, but this is first class.
"It's great being here at this golf course because it's such a prestigious place and I'm having so much fun. I think this is something we should do more often. From Dubai, I will probably go back to Florida and practice so that I can be sure to get another invitation back to Dubai next year."
