Abu Dhabi: His Highness President Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan congratulated Al Wahda administration, players and fans, after their team won the title of the UAE Pro Football League (UFL) and promotion to the finals of the Fifa Club World Cup later this year in Abu Dhabi.

This was announced by Shaikh Saeed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of Al Wahda, expressing his personal delight and the happiness and pride of all the club’s players and fans with this gesture from the country’s leader.

Shaikh Saeed also said that he received similar telephone call from General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, praising the fighting spirit of the team’s players and lauding their title victory.

Shaikh Saeed said “Winning this title has a special taste and value because it promotes us to feature in the finals of the Fifa Club World Cup. We will do our best to honour our country in the finals and we will prepare well for the occasion specially as it will be held in our capital.”

“I am grateful for all the players who fought fiercely and worked hard to win the title and were the best team in the season as all observers confirmed. I also wish all the other teams good luck next season.” Shaikh Saeed concluded.

Al Wahda won the title on Friday night, beating Sharjah away 3-0 for their fourth title in the club’s history - a week before the end of the competition and became the country’s representative in the Fifa Club World Cup which will be hosted in Abu Dhabi in December this year.
