The tide has turned favour of the people of Libya after decades of iron-fisted authoritarian rule. For this, the Libyan people deserve to celebrate their freedom and the prospect of building a more promising future. But as the dust from all the ongoing fighting settles, the real work of what is next for Libya would need to be addressed. And it is this process of rebuilding the nation that will be the most challenging and most difficult.

There is no question that Libya will need all the support it needs in the next phase as a nation. There are many areas that will require to be addressed — not only in terms of building state institutions but also in terms of enabling people to be part of the process. And the Libyan people should not be abandoned while trying to achieve this.

One of the first nations to come forward to offer its support is the UAE, with Foreign Minister Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan preparing for his visit to Benghazi this week. This is a historic moment for Libyans and other Arab countries should also rally their forces to support them.
