Recently, I had to renew my car registration and was shocked to find out I had Salik fines. I paid Dh300 for the fines. I went online to see my Salik violations and, sure enough, there they were. The system showed many fines, of Dh50 each. Every one of them on a Friday, which is when I go to Dubai. I have the Salik sticker attached to my windscreen like I should, and have over Dh300 in my Salik account balance. So how can I have all these fines? Since I just paid my fines when I registered my car, I have a clean slate. So, when I drive to Dubai this Friday, I will see if I get another fine. If so, maybe something is wrong with my chip. Is it possible the sun and heat is causing our Salik tags to go bad? Maybe that is why a lot of people are getting violations.
