The 6th edition of the Dior Lady Art Project is coming. However, this time it will feature a female Saudi artist, Manal Aldowayan, who reinterpreted the bag with a special touch of her Arabic Culture.

The contemporary Saudi Arabian artist, who is widely known for her installation piece Suspended Together at an exhibition at the Barjeel Art Foundation in 2011, is the first Arabic artist to be part of the project.

The Dior Lady Art project, is where artists and collectives from around the world reinterpret the iconic Lady Dior bag – in essence, transforming the legendary bag into bespoke piece of art.

The Lady Dior bag has become a celebration of women world-wide. However, with the Lady Dior Art Project, it has also come to represent the confluence of art and fashion.

This year, there are several unique designs by artists spanning countries, bringing truly global pieces of art supporting inclusivity. These bags merge heritage and the creative vision of the artists in often audacious ways.

This year’s roster also incudes, Gisela Colon, Johan Creten, Gineve Figgis, Gigisue, Antonin Hako, Zhang Huan, Leonhard Hurzlmeier, Yukimasa Ida, Daisuke Ohba, Li Songsong, and Lina Iris Viktor.

The project is a demonstration of virtuoso techniques and meticulous craftsmanship. The attention to detail afforded to each piece is nothing short of magical. These special creations that result from the Lady Dior Art Project, symbolise the bridge between the House and the cultures of the world. They are also an ode to freedom of creativity, where art and fashion converge.

Naturally, these bags are only available on special order.
