Twenty-six triple courses of strings make up the traditional Arab musical instrument called the qanoon. When Furat Qaddouri plays it, captivating new rhythms ripple across to the audience.

Furat has taken the qanoon to the global stage, having performed with accomplished musicians from the East and the West.

This Saturday, Dubai's music lovers will have a chance to witness him in action again, this time along with gifted South Indian fusion violonist Balabhaskar.

The event, aptly titled Aasman: Music without Boundaries, will also feature a short dance programme by the best talent from Kalabhavan Dubai, to mark the institution's annual day celebrations.

Date: April 12 at 6.30pm.
Venue: Shaikh Rashid Auditorium, The Indian High School, Dubai.
Tickets: By invitation only. Ring 04-3350189.
