After spending the better half of 2011 with an iPhone and a BlackBerry, just because I couldn't choose between the two, the announcement of the touch screen 9860 left me giggling with blissful glee.
The fact that the RIM BlackBerry Desktop Manager automatically syncs with your iTunes is perplexing. The 4GB microSD that comes with the phone can be swapped for a 32GB microSD that allows you to sync your entire iTunes library and playlists to your 9860. Fancy.
RIM claims the OS7 has a 60 per cent faster browsing speed than the OS6 and is 100 per cent faster than the OS5. So out came my OS6 9300 and my mum's OS5 8520 to squash this myth. The result: the OS7 is micro seconds faster than the OS6 and I have officially forgotten how to operate an OS5 Curve.
There are a few drawbacks if you are upgrading from a Bold or Curve. The touch screen is immensely infuriating and RIM's predictive text is as annoying as those unwanted BBM broadcast messages from people you don't care about but can't delete anyway. Despite the see-saw of emotions, priced at Dh2,000, this is officially the best BlackBerry out there.
