The new IT system of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) went live successfully yesterday following extensive testing and live simulation in the bank's branches, the bank said.

"The migration to the new system from the old went without a hitch. The new system is now up and running and the ATMs are functioning well," COO Steve Dickens told Gulf News.

Customers said the ATMs of the bank functioned normally and they did not experience difficulty in withdrawing cash.

The new IT system, the Flexcube core banking system, will enable the bank to centralise all support and back office operations, eliminating the replication across multiple locations and branches. It will also provide a standard model of operation and documentation across the bank's network.

"The new technology will improve operational efficiencies and, from the customers' perspective, all their accounts will be brought together under one relationship.

"For their convenience, we will have a new customer ID to enable them access their accounts," said Dickens.

The entire process, timing and planning was organised in such a manner as to minimise disruption to customers.

"The bank has started an information campaign to explain to customers the operability of the new system, and customers are requested to visit branches or phone the bank's call centres," he added.

In December 2003, ADCB selected Indian IT solutions provider I-Flex Solutions to install its flagship Flexcube product.

The project management and implementation was carried out by US-based Cedar Consulting with ADCB's inhouse technology team.

"The core banking solution covers a number of corporate and retail banking activities, ranging from asset and liability products, treasury and trade finance services, and multiple delivery channels including internet banking, telebanking, ATM and branch automation."
