Cairo: A woman, believed to be Saudi, has allegedly told security authorities that her husband violates a nighttime curfew in place against the new coronavirus by going out with his friends.

A viral video online features the voice of what is thought to be a policeman relaying a report from a woman claiming that her husband leaves the house to meet his friends during the curfew hours. There was no immediate official comment.

On Monday, Saudi Arabia started enforcing a nationwide curfew, the latest in a string of measures to contain the spread of the virus that has claimed three lives among a total of 1,104 patients in the kingdom.

Violation of the curfew is punishable by a fine of 10,000 Saudi riyals. Repeat offenders will pay double and face up to 20 days in jail.
