Abu Dhabi: Saudi police have arrested six citizens and an illegal expatriate suspected of involvement in a number of robberies in Riyadh, a security official has said.

The offenders, in their 20s and 30s, allegedly broken into homes in Riyadh neighbourhoods and robbed cash and other valuables, Major Khaled Al Karidis, spokesman for Riyadh police, added.

The suspects, who had criminal records, are also accused of using four stolen cars in committing their crimes, he said.

In preliminary investigations, the offenders admitted to committing a number of robberies in different parts of Riyadh, Al Kardis said. The suspects are in custody pending completion of legal procedures to be referred to public prosecution.
